Real Stories
Adam, 27, is an operations manager at a global transportation, logistics, and sourcing company in Chicago. He shares his story.
When Fusion first began and I suddenly belonged to a group of Christians, I was dealing with some difficult situations that were keeping me from growing closer to Christ. Fusion welcomed me with open arms, regardless! It didn’t matter how imperfect I was (and still am), the family never turned me away.
As open-minded, loving Christians, Fusion will never turn anybody away.
I didn’t realize how blessed I was to be a part of this family until much later when I was finally delivered from the strongholds that I felt were holding me back.
I had a friend tell me recently that he had left a church years ago because it had lost the personal feeling; as the church had grown to massive numbers, he felt swallowed up, not important, and unwanted. A relationship with Christ is meant to be extremely personal. God touches and speaks to each person in a different way. What I love most about Fusion is that the small group feels more like a family than a church. In fact, it’s both. Not only do we worship and pray and learn together, but we also build friendships with each other. And these are real friendships based in Christ; the kind of relationships that last a lifetime.
Now I look forward to Sunday mornings when I get to see the entire church gathered in one place, like a big family reunion.
I also look forward to each opportunity I have to talk about Jesus, especially outside of the church. Fusion encourages, nurtures and strengthens my faith through unconditional love and support. Fusion is the Chicago family I never had.
What do you love about Chicago? Multiculturalism - the vastness of different ethnicities and of course, the arts.
